As a licensed professional counselor, I am drawn to supporting people ages 14 and up working through life transitions, processing grief, and navigating the impact of trauma. I bring years of experience in residential, community, and private practice settings, with warm curiosity, compassion, and humor as a through-line in how I work. I meet my clients where they are at, and respect their direction and autonomy when processing difficult experiences and emotions. My goal is to help both you and I fully explore, understand, and process all of the aspects of your experiences. Here, we heal, we reconnect, and we find a clear path forward.
I bring a holistic approach to therapy, informed by trauma-informed practices, using modalities including internal family systems, sensorimotor techniques, and mindfulness based stress reduction. I am also trained in EMDR, and am able to include this based on your readiness and interest. Acknowledging the relationship between your body and mind, I work to co-create a space with you for your unique experiences and sense of self. This way, we honor and tend to the roots of wounds and beliefs that impact how you exist with the world around you.
When working with adolescents, I can also offer support in navigating parent-child relationships. It can be difficult to know how to support the teens in our lives through all of the transitions involved during this stage of life, but together we can find understanding and develop ways to communicate to make sure everyone feels heard and supported.
As a Colombian immigrant, and after moving around the world throughout my childhood, I bring a unique multicultural awareness and experience to the therapeutic relationship. Professionally, I have worked with people experiencing a range of difficulties within the immigrant experience, including discrimination, feelings of isolation, and legal issues. I am fluent in Spanish, and am happy to provide therapy in Spanish.
In my time outside of the therapy room, I love to read, spend time with my dogs, and explore every park and nature area available. I believe in the deep value of interpersonal connectedness and interdependence, and am dedicated to helping maintain and contribute to communities of support, large and small. -
