Carryn Lund, LMSW (she/her) is a therapist and yoga teacher working with children ages 5+, adolescents, emerging and established adults, and families. Carryn’s therapeutic approach is firmly rooted in principles of collaboration, affirming strengths and resilience, and tailoring the therapy to each individual. She wishes for each individual to learn more about themselves while working with her and to feel equipped with tools to support themselves in their everyday lives. Carryn works to create a safe and growth-promoting therapeutic space for individuals of all intersectional identities and abilities in all bodies; she is also committed to her own work of self-reflection, personal and professional growth, and advocacy for social justice at a policy level.

Carryn is a somatically-oriented therapist who emphasizes mindfulness, compassion, and the wisdom of the body in her approach. Carryn considers attachment (key relationships), intergenerational trauma and resilience, and life experiences related to oppression and privilege when working with clients. She specializes in healing after trauma and grief though works with a broad range of individuals and challenges including anxiety, depression, adjustment, identity, and relationships including parenting.

Carryn is trained in Mindful-Self-Compassion (MSC), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). She has received professional consultation and training in Motivational Interviewing, family therapy and ongoing study focuses on sensorimotor/somatic approaches to psychotherapy, polyvagal theory and its application to therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) or “parts'' work. Carryn incorporates play and yoga as appropriate for the situation and led by the wishes of the client.

After growing up in rural Minnesota, Carryn attended Northwestern University. She moved to Ann Arbor in 2009 to attend the University of Michigan School of Social Work and has been here ever since.

In addition to her work in private practice, Carryn is a co-founder of Grove Emotional Health Collaborative and finds great fulfillment in supporting other clinicians in doing their important work. She is also a co-creator of Therapist Refresh and a consultant on Trails to Wellness. She lectures regularly at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and teaches workshops at agencies and conferences around Michigan on topics related to trauma.
